Miyama as a company dates back to 1977, but the traditions they employ are steeped in local history. Mizunami City in Gifu Prefecture, where they are located, was considered the global number one producer of porcelain for a superb part of the twentieth century. They take pride in their implementation of technology in conjunction with their more traditional approaches and are committed to continuing to grow as the industry develops and changes.

Miyama uses unique molds and methods of crafting their tableware, but one of the most key factors is the high temperature kiln that they use to fire the pieces. By firing in a high temperature kiln, the porcelain clay and the glaze are harmonized and vitrified, creating an unmistakable luster and providing a stain-resistant, easy-to-clean surface; a perfect marriage of beauty and function
