This crystal candleholder is created using a pâte de cristal technique that is ancient and limited, dating back to 5000 B.C. Daum rediscovered this technique in 1900 and further produced it in 1968 making it his specialty. These sculptures are made by melting crystal fragments within a mold that creates a softness of contours that cannot be obtained with blown glass. Pâte de cristal produces a brilliant material that is filled with intense colors and a myriad of subtle shades that all contribute to its uniqueness.
