Miyama as a company dates back to 1977, but the traditions they employ are steeped in local history. Mizunami City in Gifu Prefecture, where they are located, was considered the global number one producer of porcelain for a good part of the twentieth century. Miyama uses singular molds and methods of crafting their tableware, but one of the most key factors is the high temperature kiln that they use to fire the pieces.
